The eighth graders in this program are working on developing and programming robots, using small lego-like pieces. When they finish building their robots with Ms. Pandey's help, they will try to make their very own robots, and you will even have a chance to see them in action.  Although this science 'club' is only for eighth graders, check out this page to find out how robots are built and when you will have the chance to see the final masterpieces!

The club's members would also like to acknowledge Mr. Lee, a parent scientist volunteer, for guiding them through their first projects.

STEM PROGRAM

SPECIAL FEATURE!

Eighth Grade Balloon-powered Cars

The eighth graders had a balloon-powered car race!  Using only a balloon, straws, and cardboard or plastic, they created their very own balloon-powered cars.  Some worked, and some didn't.  From 8-1, Caitlyn Chin and Lauren Trinh won The Most Creative Car Prize, and Dominick Yu and Sarah Li won The Fastest Car prize.  From 8-2, Paulina Shearer and Jiayi Cheng won The Most Creative Car Prize, and Brandon Chun and Sean Iwata won The Fastest Car Prize. Congratulations!

STEM Assembly -May 21st

On Wednesday, May 21st, a STEM assembly was held in Moriarty Hall.  There were eight stations, with a different activity at each station.  We learned about pulleys, arches, lights, friction, and robots.  We saw a video on robots, and we even watched a genuine 3D printer print a plastic creeper!  It was a fun way to learn about STEM and was a great experience :)
